This design & build project involved the CAT A refurbishment of an old Homebase site and two units were sub-divided for two pre-let incoming tenants. (Aldi & Poundstretcher) Following the strip out, the roof was extensively overhauled and a Metsec party wall & service corridors were installed.
Additional drainage, water mains & electrical supplies were added. The building was over clad with new Kingspan Microrib cladding and new structural steel & glass canopies were added.
The original Homebase garden centre was converted to additional car parking areas.
The Kingspan over cladding & curtain walling shop fronts were continued across the entire retail park whilst the other units were still occupied & trading. Close liaison with other tenants was imperative, especially in a live retail park environment.
Despite the late instruction of additional works to the electrical main, minor tenant additions, and signage totems the project was still completed on time.
The client Paloma was very pleased due to the rejuvenation of a tired and dated looking retail park, which was subsequently successfully sold by Paloma
