This June we are celebrating 40 years in business.
Established in 1977 by our late founder John Vella, Pexhurst has grown from a small office fit-out specialist to managing and carrying out large scale refurbishments of commercial and industrial properties, complex projects in the healthcare and education industry, as well as the restoration of listed buildings.
Our first client back in 1977 was The Bulldog Public House in Bullsmoor Lane, Waltham Cross, where we carried out electrical works for a value of £11. From these humble beginnings, we have grown to a medium-sized SME working with an established blue-chip client base that includes some of the world’s largest investment funds. Most of our clients are situated in the South East of England and London.
We are experienced in carrying out project work across a range of sectors from education to healthcare. More than 50% of our staff have worked at Pexhurst since 1995 and this retention of expert craftsmen has meant that we have continued to grow as a reliable company that client’s trust.
Here are some facts about our journey over the past 40 years.
- 25% of Pexhurst staff have seen 25, 35 and 40 years in business
- 17…. the number of years we have supported the Isabel Hospice, a Hertfordshire based charity that has cared for Pexhurst friends and family members
- In 2017 we hit 1,000 followers on Twitter
- By 2012 we had delivered 100 projects for our key long-standing client Segro and we still enjoy working with them today
- In 2012 we opened an office in Central London to support our head office in Welham Green, Hertfordshire
- 1 million – the number of steps our Site Agent Gordon Blackwell walked during a summer of works at our long-standing client the University of Hertfordshire
- Since 1994 we have watched over three million seconds of Premiership football with our clients at the home of beautiful football – the Spurs!
- The largest value project in our first year of trading was £4,759.39 for the City of Westminster
- During one summer of works at the University of Hertfordshire we used 1km of fencing for site boundaries and laid 1km of block paving creating a new outdoor student social space
