Pexhurst has secured its first contract with the School of Arts, Birkbeck, University of London.
Birkbeck – one of the University of London’s self-governing Colleges – is reorganising and refurbishing the ground floor of three of its townhouses occupied by the School of Arts.
The layout will be reconfigured to make way for a brand new reception, cafeteria, and rehearsal and education room, together with a multi-function exhibition space.
The 10-week project will be finished at the start of October, ready for the first day of term.
Birkbeck’s Estates Manager says:
“The reception and ground floor is the final piece in the jigsaw of the refurbishment of our Gordon Square properties, which already contain a RIBA award-winning cinema. The School is excited about having its own dedicated space capable of staging exhibitions using various formats and is busy planning the first exhibitions.”
He adds: “Pexhurst have a reputation for doing a fantastic job. They were actually recommended to me by a number of different people, so we’re looking forward to seeing the finished result.”
Lee Stuart, Project Manager at Pexhurst, says:
“We have a lot of experience in the education sector and are very happy to be producing this project for Birkbeck. The refurbishment is designed to give a high-quality feel and therefore we’re sure they’ll be happy with the outcome.”
