Pexhurst recently attended and supported the 4th Invitational at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit hosted by Mission Motorsport. The day is a flagship event for the charity, bringing together 60 exceptional cars with in excess of 125 injured servicemen and women and their families. Cars are divided into pre-war, ’50s, ’60s and supercar groups, in addition to a special group including the pinnacle of modern engineering.
Before, during and after enjoying their time on the track, the serving and ex-service personnel had the chance to meet a wide and varied cross-section of the drivers who volunteered their time and cars for the day. This provides the opportunity for those interested in the automotive (and any other) industry to start building a network and a greater understanding of careers in the sector.
Mission Motorsport is a charity aimed at aiding the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations by providing opportunities through motorsports. Launched in 2012, the charity has helped over 850 ex-servicemen and women to develop new skills through training and direct vocational support, including mechanical competencies, logistics, and management.
With several years of success behind it, the charity is now taking its story to British companies with the aim of fundraising for a number of specific initiatives in 2016/7.
