The Pexhurst student shadowing programme, now in its 6th year, has lined up five students for placements this year.
Director, Nick Tagliarini commented: “One of the biggest challenges the construction industry faces is attracting new talent to the workforce. The student shadowing programme gives us a great opportunity to showcase the construction industry, which provides great career prospects when compared with other industries. Without providing students with this valuable insight, we risk losing these students to other industries”.
In April, Oliver from a local Hertfordshire Secondary School spent a week gaining valuable insight into the construction industry. He spent time in Contract Management, Site Management with Client Liaison, Estimating, General Office Support and Marketing.
Over the coming months, a further two Secondary School students have signed up, as well as a 1st-year University Student and a final year MSc Student from the University of Hertfordshire. Pexhurst currently partners and supports the University with its own internal placement program, to further widen our support and profile in this valuable area.
