Pexhurst Charity Go-Karting is off to a Racing Start!

Last month saw the debut of our charity go-karting event, bringing together the Pexhurst team and our valued supply chain for an endurance race night that raised in excess of £5,000 for Epilepsy Action.

More than 60 people attended the event, made up mostly of individuals from our valued subcontractor partners. The event was our very own Assistant Site Manager Aaron McElligott’s idea, born from his personal passion for go-karting and the time he spends at Rye House Kart Raceway. Our Junior Board supported organising the event alongside Charlotte Stern – our charity representative at Epilepsy Action.

The decision to work with Epilepsy Action on this event is a result of Aaron nominating the charity after our Junior Board created a survey to give our staff the opportunity to decide who we fundraise for in 2024.

Aaron said: “Epilepsy Action is a charity close to mine and my family’s hearts, so I am really pleased that we have been able to support them as a business – combining a personal passion of mine with our Pro-People commitment at Pexhurst.

“We raised a significant amount of money for such a fantastic cause, while having a lot of fun in the process. It’s the perfect example of how you can use an opportunity to interact and engage with your supply chain at the same time as giving back. Our initial fundraising target was £3,000, so to have exceeded £5,000 is an amazing achievement and something we would like to thank our very generous supply chain partners for helping with.”

Umberslade finished in first place, followed by Delta House in second and Pexhurst in third. Aaron won the fastest lap competition, using his experience and track knowledge to his advantage.

Charlotte Stern, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Epilepsy Action, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at Pexhurst for organising such a fantastic fundraising event. Your generous support will make such a huge difference and help create a world without limits for the 630,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK. The funds raised by Pexhurst, will pay for all the enquiries received to our helpline for an entire week, ensuring people get the support they need when they need it most.”

We’re very proud of the strong supply chain relationships we have built, with many spanning in excess of 20 years. We understand the crucial role that our supply chain partners play, not only on our construction sites but also on our reputation as a trusted main contractor. Following the popularity and success of our first charity go-karting event, we are looking to make this an annual event.

Make sure to look out for updates and how to get involved!
