Congratulations to Director Penny Dew for her long-term commitment to the company! To mark this impressive milestone, we caught up with Penny to find out more about her two decades with us…
1. What made you apply for your job with Pexhurst?
I wanted a career where I could make a difference and be part of a journey, and looking back I certainly feel like I have achieved that. The person I took over from was retiring which gave me a good vibe from the start, and the opportunity the role promised was exciting and diverse – something that has continued to be true throughout my 20 years here.
2. Do you remember your first day?
I do! I joined the same day as Site Manager Paul Rowland, and joined the company just 2 weeks before we moved into our current offices (we used to be over the road in a smaller unit) – so as a result, I never have any trouble in remembering when anyone asks how long the company has been in it’s current offices for!
3. What one piece of advice would you give yourself on that first day?
My one piece of advice would be to have belief in yourself.
4. What’s your favourite part of your job?
I am fortunate to work with a really great team, a large number of whom have been here for over 10 years themselves! Despite the company’s growth over the last 20 years, the family-feel has been retained, so I would have to say my favourite part of the job is the Pexhurst people.
5. What’s your favourite memory from the past 20 years?
There have been lots of memories, but the one that stands out was being promoted to Finance Director. This was a huge achievement for me, and I still remember how proud my Dad was when I told him I had been promoted!
6. What are you looking forward to next?
Having been with Pexhurst on a growth journey from £5m to £50m, I am excited to see how we continue to grow in the coming years, and the challenges that will bring. I am also looking forward to making the most of one of the Company’s long service incentives which is an additional 5 days holiday on reaching 20 years’ service… I have already booked an extra week in the Lake District to make the most of it!
