Our Managing Director’s View of the Year!

Despite being one of the most uncertain years for our industry, superseding the financial crash in 2008, 2020 has been successful for our business.

The growth we have seen this year has not been without huge efforts from our employees, who have remained diligent and loyal during the pandemic, going above and beyond for clients to ensure projects are completed to a high quality, on time, and on budget. We are incredibly grateful to our clients, consultants and suppliers for their openness and partnership to ensure we all exit this year in a good place.

Through comprehensive planning and following strict health and safety procedures, we were able to get our employees back to work at head office in the Spring, with our site team working throughout the lockdown period.

In addition, we continue to expand our services in the types of projects and locations we operate in. This year we celebrated the completion of our 4,000th project and December will see us start a major new refurbishment project in Bristol for our client Hines and consultants Hollis. Over this year, our team has expanded and we have also been able to make several appointments across our head office and sites to ensure we continue to deliver projects in all ranges and sectors, typically ranging from £250K to £10m.

Helping others is incredibly important to us and we continued our charity fundraising in 2020. We made pizzas, dressed up, baked, held quizzes and a golf day. We are proud to support Landaid, Teenage Cancer Trust, Isabel Hospice, Potential Kids and Breast Cancer Awareness, and have raised an impressive £8,000 collectively for these worthy causes, exceeding our target of £7,500 by the end of the year!

The health and wellbeing of our employees is at the heart of what we do, and I am proud of how our mental health champions have supported our staff. We understand the importance of training and development and are delighted to be supporting a number of employees through various training programmes. The Pexhurst apprenticeship scheme is still open for candidates who are looking for a career in construction. Pexhurst are proud to see the progress of previous candidates who are now Assistant Site Managers.

Our attention has already turned to next year. We have excellent financial stability and enter 2021 in a healthy position, with a strong pipeline of projects across a range of sectors. Whilst we are cautiously optimistic about the market conditions, we feel positive about the position the business is in and we look forward to working with current clients, consultants and new ones on projects next year.

Stay Safe
