Five years on from the first event, our annual charity golf day returned in September and raised more money than ever before…
More than 90 people made the trip to The London Club in Kent and contributed to raising a record £4,500 for two inspiring charities – LandAid and Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT). We were delighted that representatives from our long-standing client base, including companies such as Avison Young, EQT Exeter, SEGRO, The Arch Company, Arcadis, and Cushman and Wakefield, were in attendance too.
While we have supported LandAid through previous annual golf days, ACT was selected this year following a staff vote for charities close to people’s hearts. ACT was brought to our attention by Contracts Manager Charlie Hazeltine after he personally experienced the faultless care that the charity provides through its hospitals.
Natasha Robertson, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Pexhurst for their ongoing support and for organising this golfing event. As the official charity for Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie Hospitals, any funds raised by our supporters will be used to help make our hospitals even better by funding cutting-edge research, innovations and high-tech equipment, above and beyond what the NHS is able to provide.”
As usual, we made sure our latest golf day was different from the previous year. This was achieved by starting the day with a 30-minute trickshot show with PGA Professional Jeremy Dale showcasing some of his greatest hits to get the day off to a flying start! This year, we also held a midday beginners’ clinic, which included driving range tuition and even a putting competition. It was our way of making the day more accessible and allowing anyone new to golf to get involved.
For the golfing regulars, once again we incorporated various exciting elements into the day. Our agenda included ‘Buy Jeremy’s Drive’ on Hole 1 and a chance to win £10k with a hole in one on the twelfth. This year also saw the return of our silent auction, promoting fundraising further and giving those in attendance the chance to bid on a selection of exciting auction prizes.
Winners on the day
Though the brilliant charities we supported were the main winners on the day, there were some winners on the course too. Congratulations go to Tom Kemp, Belshaw who took the coveted First Place individual prize with 45 points, and Team Hazeltine for winning the best team score with 97 points. Jayson Hannam won the Longest Drive and Matt Sadler, Sibley Pares won Nearest to the Pin.
Jojo Mills, Corporate Partnerships Manager at LandAid, said: “We are truly grateful for all of Pexhurst’s hard work to host such a fantastic golf day once again. It’s with the support of our invaluable partners from across the property industry that we can continue striving to reach our mission: to end youth homelessness, once and for all. Pexhurst’s golf day this year raised a fantastic £2000 for LandAid, which could help fund a safe place for a young person to sleep for over a year. LandAid simply could not make the impact we have on young people without your vital support – a massive thanks to Pexhurst, specifically Kayla and Nick, and to the guests on the day for supporting us.”
Without the support of our amazing clients, and our halfway house sponsor Assent Group, our annual golf day wouldn’t be the success that it is. Thank you to everyone who attended, whether it was your first time or your fifth. We’re proud to be pro-people and are inspired by others across the industry who are the same, so events like our annual golf day go a long way in supporting one another whether it’s through charity or business.
