This year Director Lee Stuart celebrates 15 years with Pexhurst! To mark this impressive milestone, we caught up with Lee to hear more about his time with what he has come to think of as his extended family.
How did you come to work at Pexhurst?
I have always worked for small to medium-sized construction companies. I wanted to make the move into contracts management so when a position opened up at Pexhurst I jumped at the chance.
Do you remember your first day on the job?
Like it was yesterday! I attended a client event just before Christmas which was a great introduction to both my colleagues and clients but I officially started the first day back after the Christmas break – everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I remember going out to look at a new project that we were tendering for and meeting the managing director of one of our subcontractors, and thinking ‘wow, what a character’!
What is your favourite thing about coming to work every day and what makes Pexhurst such a great place to work?
The people. From the moment I joined to this day, it’s like being part of a large family and even though people have come and gone over the years, that feeling never changes.
What has been your proudest work achievement?
Being promoted to the board of Directors is a real highlight.
What is your fondest work memory?
It’s hard to choose just one as I’ve been involved in so many different and interesting projects over the years and we’ve also put on a lot of great social events in that time. But one memory that will never leave me was from a site visit not long after I joined Pexhurst – I found myself trapped in an office with no door handle! I had to think creatively and thankfully managed to escape, but from that day forward I never let a door close behind me without first checking that the door has a working door handle!
What are you looking forward to next?
Coming out of lockdown and returning to some sort of normality.
