Location:

£1.3 million

Programme:

20 weeks

Pexhurst has overseen the installation of a 100kW solar photovoltaic array on a new roof which, together with a new concrete floor and m&e services, bringing the building up to modern standards.

In a £1.3 million, 20-week contract, Pexhurst has successfully co-ordinated work among the many different subcontractors to ensure the project stayed on track.

The extensive refurbishment required a new electricity supply, so some works had to be carried out using temporary generators while electrical installation was carried out, tested and commissioned.

Once the existing roof and concrete floor had been removed, electricians could move in to form a pit to install cabling for the new electrical infrastructure. Services, a gas membrane and drainage measures could then be installed before a new concrete floor poured. Meanwhile, roof work was ongoing to allow blockwork walls to be partially built and roller shutters and dock levellers installed in the warehouse bay areas.

The 400 solar panels on the roof will provide all of the building’s power requirements. Pexhurst has overseen a totally new m&e installation, including air conditioning and mechanical ventilation, and the fit-out also includes the creation of partitions and meeting rooms, enhancements to the existing toilets, decoration and new carpets. The result is facilities that have been brought up to modern standards, with high-quality fixtures and fittings.
