Titan by name, Titan by nature... The Titan Distribution centre in Yate is a 255,686 sq. ft. quality CAT A conversion from the largest cold store in Europe (in 1984) to a modern, flexible logistics space suitable for the needs of major industry clients.
Extensive demolition and remediation, new roof coatings, electrical installations, office refurbishments and high quality floor polishing all serve to bring the unit up to date for the needs of the tenant. In fact, the team drilled and filled around 24,850 bolt holes by hand to get the smooth finish to the warehouse floor! Repairs and renewal of the encircling service road and yard areas enable ready access for the largest articulated vehicles with newly tarmacked car parking directly adjacent for both staff and visitors. With 28 dock level doors and 11 level access doors providing access to both front and rear elevations, the refurbishment was vast, but the transformation was remarkable.
The removal of the original CFC bearing cold store panels together with extensive asbestos contamination clearance within the contract programme, has resulted in a unit that has a larger GFA when we finished than when we started. Eternit cementitious cladding and new aluminium entrance screens to the entrance structure form part of the effect that finally brings the unit into the 21st century.
