Pexhurst were appointed by contracts administrator Vail Williams on behalf of client Crossbay to undertake the refurbishment of a last-mile facility in Farnborough, Hampshire.
The refurbished site includes over 40,000 sq. ft. of Grade-A logistics and office space located along the M3, within a highly favourable location.
The project involved the full strip out and removal of the sprinkler tank and pump room, as well as the formation of two new loading doors and extended rear hardstanding surfaces.
Further enhancement to the unit were made by the installation of all new electrics, as well as the installation of a heat pump and AC heating/cooling systems to the offices.
The offices had a substantial refurbishment to bring the finishes and services up to date. Externally the team undertook extensive cleaning and decoration to meet the needs of the incoming tenant.
Sustainability was integrated throughout the project’s lifecycle, from planning and design to execution. We achieved a remarkable 99.91% waste diversion from landfill during the project. By implementing a thorough waste segregation strategy, we ensured that almost all debris and materials were either recycled or repurposed. This significantly minimised the environmental impact of the construction work.
Pexhurst were able to reuse over 35 pallets on this project. Coordinating the reuse of specific materials, such as the pallets, required logistical planning. By partnering with 'The Pallet Loop', we were able to ensure that the materials were reused efficiently, contributing to a circular economy.
The project was completed on time, and the client was extremely satisfied with the outcome. The new HVAC and electrical systems have resulted in significant energy savings, while the upgraded office areas will increase future staff productivity and comfort.
