Pexhurst has brought back to life this former 19th Century sweet and chocolate factory, situated in the cultural quarter of Wood Green, by creating a more dynamic, inspirational and exciting place for people to work.
A place where local, creative businesses have flourished over many years, this transformational fit-out is encouraging a new age of local businesses to locate here.
Whilst one of the aims of the fit out is to attract new entrepreneurs, key consideration has been given to the variety of existing occupiers during the project work and in plans for future proofing the building.
Improvements to security and facilities give occupiers peace of mind, whilst improved office and studio spaces, breakout areas, meeting rooms and a new café, provide a more stimulating place to collaborate and network.
Restoring and preserving the history of the site is very much at the heart of the design. Emphasis is on creating formal and informal spaces where spontaneous encounters can happen, whilst ensuring contemporary interventions complement and build upon the rich character of the building.
The project has been a labour of love for all involved, and the project team rose to a range of challenges to create this special workplace.
