The C250 Transept area- 8 Weeks. The Films, Music and Media building- 7 Weeks.
Pexhurst was involved in the extensive renovation and development of two parts of the University of Hertfordshire - The C250 Transept area and the Films, Music, and Media building.
Works to the C250 Transept area involved the complete strip out of the existing office areas, and reconstruction of new offices to accommodate the University Dean. The new walls were acoustically sealed with ash veneered door sets within the common areas, whilst suspended ceilings and carpets were installed throughout.
The suite has had a new VRF heating and cooling system, and power and data services installed, with new planar recessed LED lighting panels within the ceiling grids.
This was a fast track 8-week programme, which completed on time and within budget.
In the second part of the University works, Pexhurst made significant developments to the performance space in the Films, Music and Media building.
This project involved developing five different areas within the Film and Media facility for students to utilise, with the main element of the project, a new operational sound studio. The works involved constructing high acoustic specification walls and new acoustic door sets. Installation of supply and extract systems incorporating inline fans and AHU, as well as associated electrical supplies to support all of the new technical equipment within the studio.
Other works included the creation of a new classroom and two practice rooms for performance.
All works were successfully completed with a live sound demonstration undertaken within the studio at handover. The project was completed within budget and to a 7-week programme.
